Market digested pretty well news from the US, as despite dollar ends the day down against most rivals, there have been no fireworks after all. Stocks across the world edged modestly higher on Tuesday, while gold took a nose dive below $1290/oz after India hike imports tariffs on the metal. As for the EUR/USD, the pair advanced to a fresh high of 1.3587, but was unable to sustain gains as per soft European data. Ahead of Asian opening, the hourly chart shows price below a flat 20 SMA and indicators also neutral, right below their midlines. In the 4 hours chart however, bullish tone persists, supporting more gains ahead. Still, Wednesday can be also pretty choppy considering ECB will meet on Thursday to announce their latest economic policy decision.

The EUR/JPY sunk to a daily low of 132.31, trading barely above despite Japan PM Abe to avoid yen appreciation: he has not only announced a tax hike, but extra ¥50T in facilities, over the past 24 hours. However, there’s not much buying interest around, as the hourly chart maintains a strong bearish tone, with moving averages having contained early attempts to advance. 4 hours chart also presents a bearish technical stance, which supports further slides on a break below 132.10, Monday low.

Trading near its daily low, the USD/JPY failed to recover the 98.00 level, and continues to be under selling pressure. Hovering around the daily ascendant trend line coming form 93.78, the hourly chart shows price still well below 100 and 200 SMAs, both with clear bearish slopes, while indicators retrace from their midlines, suggesting the pair remains exposed to more falls. In the 4 hours chart technical picture is also bearish, supporting the shorter term view. August low around 95.80 is next probable target if the pair continues to grind lower.
