Australia Trade Balance On Tap For Wednesday

Australia will on Wednesday release August figures for imports, exports and trade balance, highlighting a modest day for Asia-Pacific economic activity.

Imports were worth A$26.97 billion in July and exports were at A$26.20 billion for a deficit of A$765 million. Analysts are looking for a shortfall of A$400 million in August.

Australia also will see August numbers for building approvals, with forecasts suggesting a decline of 0.5 percent on month and a gain of 12.8 percent on year. That follows the 10.8 percent monthly jump and the 28.3 percent annual surge in July.

Japan will provide September data for monetary base; in August, the base was up 42.0 percent on year.

Finally, the stock markets in China remain closed for the National Day holiday; they will re-open on Tuesday.
