Croatian Industrial Production Falls For Fourth Month

Croatia’s industrial production decreased for the fourth consecutive month in July, and at a notably faster rate than in the previous month, data released by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics showed Tuesday.

Industrial production fell a working-day adjusted 4.1 percent on an annual basis in July, faster than the 1.5 percent fall seen in June. Production has recorded negative growth for the fourth month in a row.

Driving the downturn, output of capital goods fell 10.7 percent from a year earlier, and energy production dropped by 5 percent. Production of durable consumer goods and non-durable consumer goods was lower by 6.9 percent and 4.5 percent respectively than in July 2012.

Meanwhile, production in the intermediate goods industry increased 2 percent year-on-year in July, partially offsetting the declines seen in the other categories.

Month-on-month, industrial production dropped a seasonally adjusted 0.9 percent in July, reversing June’s 1.6 percent gain.

During the seven months ended July, industrial production decreased 1.3 percent from the corresponding period of last year, the agency said.
